Freedom to be You

Stifling. Restricting. Uncomfortable. That’s how I used to describe walking into unfamiliar environments.

Not because I didn’t like meeting new people. I’d simply lost my identity through the years.  Which resulted in uncertainty and insecurity.

I labeled myself an introvert and used that to justify staying in the shadows or choosing solitude over socializing.

My alone time is essential to my sanity. But I now believe connecting with others is too.

When you don’t know who you are anymore after years of conforming to please others connecting can feel challenging.

After years of faking my way through life too insecure to live authentically I gave up.  The fake it till you make it theory failed me.

And you know what I found after I stopped pretending, imitating or confirming?    Freedom.

You will too. But only when you decide you’re done trying to be anyone other than who you are.

Don’t allow social media to decide who you should be, what you should wear, believe, speak or do.

I promise you that when you start showing up authentically heads will turn. Why?  Because authenticity is so rare people can’t help but notice.

Ten women walk in a room  wearing the same “trending” blouse. One woman walks in wearing her curated style  knowing trending or not she looks and feels amazing.

Ten women blend in. One woman fiercely stands out.  Which one are you?

Fear keeps us from being real. Freedom comes when we decide to be real.
