What are you waiting for? Praying and believing for?
David understood what it meant to wait. And how to do it successfully.
He said “Wait for and confidently expect the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes wait for and confidently expect the Lord.” Psalm 27:14
The Hebrew word for wait may also be translated as “hope.” To hope in Him is to trust His timing and His action.
Waiting is hoping with confident expectation.
Hoping revives our strength. It’s how we reclaim our power. We draw closer to the One we hope in.
Waiting confidently on God means choosing not to make decisions from a place of fear, panic, impulse, anger, anxiety or emotion.
It’s not easy. But the alternative is worse.
To take matters into our own hands. Make rash reactions only to regret it. And suffer the consequences of it.
I know from experience. Multiple ones.
Waiting is hoping. Hope renews your strength. It gives you the fortitude to continue forward. When you want to quit, give up or bail out.
Sometimes your answer comes quickly. Other times it doesn’t.
Many times the answer we want is beyond our control. Circumstances we on our own cannot change.
The waiting in those moments can feel like torture.
Hope is our help when we feel helpless.
It’s courage for our hearts. Inner energy to forge ahead.
Today, I encourage you to present your specific requests to the Lord. And wait. With hope and confident expectation.
