Perfect peace. We all want it.
We’re all promised it. So why aren’t we all experiencing it?
For me, it’s because I’ve been looking in the wrong places, in external possessions, instant gratification and social surroundings.
It’s not there. And it never will be.
So where is it? How do we experience it?
Isaiah knows.
He tells us that “You (God) will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in you.” 26:3
Two elements are essential to enjoying perfect peace. Mindset management and confident divine trust.
David would agree with Isaiah.
“When I remember You on my bed, I meditate and thoughtfully (intentionally) focus on You in the night watches.
For you have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings (where I am always protected) I sing for joy.” Ps 63:6-7 (AMP)
David “remembers” God.
He could’ve allowed his mind to dwell on situations he had no control over. Or a shame filled past. Or two faced friends. But he didn’t.
He developed the discipline of intentional focus, managing his mind instead of letting it manipulate his emotions and steal his joy.
The second essential is trusting in God.
And let’s be real. It isn’t always easy. But it too is a choice.
We can let our minds dwell on the impossible or on the God of the impossible.
On our hurt or our Healer. Or lack or His abundance. On fear or on the One who is faithful.
It’s mindset stewardship.
Perfect peace is available. To every woman. It’s a choice and a daily intention. Where will we permit our thoughts to transport us today?
Into panic or perfect peace?
In sleepless nights will we toss and turn with anxiety or lay our burdens on the altar and drift off with a quieted mind, comforted and calm?
God is our Help. We trust in Him.
And He’s making the offer of a lifetime. To us all. We can experience what the world will never possess.
Perfect peace.
