How to Survive Sunless Seasons

Have you ever walked through “sunless” seasons?  You know.  Those times when life feels heavy, unclear and uncertain.

It’s in those moments when your mindset matters most.   Let’s let David explain.

In Psalm 23, he’s reflecting over the highs and lows of his life.

Some seasons overflowed with abundance. And others were lived out in the valley of confusion, fear and loneliness.

And it was there in valleys David learned to live from an“even though” mentality. “Even though” he walked in the valley of the shadow of death . . .

Even though his situation looked hopeless, he was not without hope.

You see, David had walked through enough sunless seasons to learn he wasn’t navigating them alone.

Are you going through a sunless season? An “even though” moment?

Even though the loved one passes, the job ends, the relationship fizzles, the bills keep coming, the diagnosis is grim, the rejection continues, the future looks uncertain you are not alone.

Even though the world is chaotic, the nightly news discouraging, social media divisive and the future resembles a dark valley, He is there.

The world may panic but you will be at peace. While the world gropes through these dark times, you are being led by your Shepherd.

He holds your hand. His voice is comforting, assuring. His touch is healing.

In those “even though” moments please remember The Shepherd is present, providing and protecting you with every step you take.

During sunless seasons it helps tremendously to have a “go to” verse to encourage you. What’s yours?
