What do you do when you feel like your back is against the wall?
What action do you take when you feel you’ve run out of options?
When your scared, anxious, confused or overwhelmed?
When you didn’t get the news you hoped for, the promotion you were counting on, the relationship you invested time and effort into or the outcome you expected?
Where do you turn when you don’t know where to turn?
Your Bible. It will always provide you solutions to your situations!
A king becomes extremely sick, “deathly ill.”
The prophet Isaiah tells him “This is what the Lord says: Set your affairs in order; for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.” 2 Kings 20:1
There was a time when I would just accept and obey Isaiah’s instructions but King Hezekiah didn’t.
His back was clearly against the wall. But he didn’t stay there.
King Hezekiah “turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord.” 20:2. He “broke down and wept bitterly.” 20:3. And understandably so.
This story could have ended here but it didn’t. Hezekiah’s actions moved his God to take action.
Isaiah comes back to Hezekiah and said “This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David says: I have HEARD your prayer and SEEN your tears. I will heal you and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord. I will add 15 years to your life. . .” 20:4-6
When you’re back is against the wall and it seems all hope is gone, turn around, face your wall and pray.
Cry your tears as you cry out to Him. Before Hezekiah’s breakthrough he broke down.
God heard his prayer, saw his tears and instead of reprimanding him, healed him!
When there seems to be no way, God will make a way. From Genesis to Revelation you will see this repeatedly.
Seas open and become paths of escape. Dead men rise. Blind see. Lame walk.
Relationships are restored. Promotions come from pain. Families are reunited and the list goes on.
I don’t know what wall your back is against but I encourage you turn around, face that wall, speak to God about that wall and wait for His reply.
He sees you. He hears you. He loves you.
