Every woman I’ve ever met wants to get up every day and live a life she loves, one that has been crafted and cultivated in a manner that brings her joy.
She wants the designing process to be as enjoyable and rewarding as the final creation.
There are countless books on how to design a life we love and want to live and I’m not here to criticize or discount their value.
I too am a woman who deeply desires to design a life that feels harmonious, elegant and enjoyable.
Not perfect or without problems but one that offers a space to retreat in the midst of them.
I can’t even count how many times I’ve tried to design this life yet failed each time.
One morning in my study time I read this. “It was built according to the exact design the Lord had shown Moses.”
It being the tabernacle where the Lord Himself would live, a sacred space that housed His presence, peace and power.
God gave Moses a specific, detailed architectural plan of this tabernacle just like He gave Noah one of the ark.
Both men built exactly and according to God’s plans, not theirs.
They did not alter the design or make suggestions on how better to improve the design. They built it as He intended.
Proverbs 14:1 states that “A wise woman builds her house but a foolish one tears her’s down.”
We also read that “Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Prov 23:3 – 4.
I personally want to build a house that stands firm especially during the tumultuous times we live in.
God’s Word gives you and me a detailed description of how to build our house (in wisdom) and how to fill it with beauty (using knowledge of His Word).
I can’t follow instructions I don’t know which is why Bible study is critical to building successfully.
To obediently build according to God’s Word is to express respect and appreciation for the Master Architect.
Moses and Noah both had to surrender their opinions and any and all need to control the outcome before they could begin construction.
We do too.
The well lived life is one that walks daily in God’s wisdom, makes decisions using His knowledge and checks “self” (ego, ambition, need for affirmation/approval/applause) at the door each morning before starting the day.
Lately, God’s had to take my house down to the studs and start over.
Everything up until this moment had to go because it was all built on pride which is rooted in fear.
It’s been a painful process but one that has proven most beneficial and it’s ongoing.
Every day begins dying to my self which isn’t easy. She can be stubborn, hard headed, opinionated and difficult but the work continues.
If your life doesn’t look like you want or thought it would, turn the designing process over to Him trusting He knows how to build best because He does.
His Word is our architectural blueprint and within it’s pages from Genesis to Revelation we will discover the information, instructions and specifications needed to build wisely and well.
